Neanderthals and Cro-Magnons

I just finished watching a show on History Channel about Neanderthals and Cro-magnons. It said that they existed together at one time before Neanderthals went extinct and interacted with each other (not in a friendly way though).
Can you imagine how weird it would be to live in a world where a different species of humans than us exists along with us? I mean, sure there’s all kinds of animals with different species coexisting right now, but they’re animals. If there were two different kinds of humans existing right now it’d probably be like racism levels of today multiplied by a hundred. Except it’d be called specieism. It’d be like “Planet of the Apes” kinda. The stronger species would probably enslave the other. Or maybe they’d be a good match up against each other and would be competing against each other and having wars and stuff. Or maybe they would work together for greatness (not likely though considering our species is always at war with each other).
And that’s my rant of the day.

Muscle Cars of Today and Which One I Would Choose

So I keep seeing commercials for muscle cars such as the Dodge Challenger, Dodge ChargerFord Mustang, and Chevy Camaro. They all seem to be focusing on advertising the horsepower more than usual. This made me think, "If I had to choose between these four cars, which one would I go with?" This post will answer that question.

The Dodge Challenger has three different engine sizes available. They are: 3.5-liter high output V6 with 250 horsepower, 5.7-liter HEMI V8 with 372 horsepower, and 6.1-liter SRT HEMI V8 with 425 horsepower.
The Dodge Charger has four different engine sizes available. The 2.7-liter DOHC V6 with 178 horsepower, the 3.5-liter high output SOHC V6 with 250 horsepower, the 5.7-liter HEMI V8 with 368 horsepower, and the 6.1-liter SRT HEMI V8 with 425 horsepower.
The Ford Mustang has two different engine sizes available. The Mustang V6 has a 3.7-liter Ti-VCT V6 with 305 horsepower. The Mustang GT has a 5.0-liter Ti-VCT V8 with 402 horsepower when using regular fuel and 412 when using premium fuel.
The Chevy Camaro has two different engine sizes available as well. The regular Camaro has a 3.6-liter V6 with 312 horsepower. The Camaro SS has a 6.2-liter V8 with 426 horsepower.

So, as you can see above, when comparing the largest engines for each of these cars, the Chevy Camaro wins by a mere single horse power over the Dodge Challenger and Dodge Charger. And the Ford Mustang falls behind them all with 14 horse power less than the Camaro. Now, I've test driven the Mustang GT and that thing felt real nice and powerful, so I can only imagine how fun it would be to drive the other three beasts.

The Camaro may win (just barely) as far as power goes, but let's face it, the Camaro's body size makes it an ugly machine. You might as well be driving a boat down the street.
The Challenger looks amazing. The body doesn't look too big or too small. It's got that retro look that brings back some of the aesthetics of the classic Challengers. Simply stated: it looks mean.
The Charger is OK looking. It doesn't look too much like a muscle car and the reason I say that is because it looks too similar to the Dodge Magnum (which is no longer being manufactured), just without the station wagon backing.
The Mustang looks pretty awesome. Like the Challenger, it's body doesn't look to big or too small. And it's got that retro look to it, especially the GT models that have the hood scoop and the back passenger windows have the vertical slates over them (probably the wrong terminology, but oh well) that look a lot more like the classic fastback Mustangs. But it doesn't look like the classic Mustangs as much as the Challenger looks like the classic Challengers.

So with all this said, if I had to choose between these four cars, I'd go with the Challenger. My reasoning being that: Even though I enjoyed driving the Mustang, all the other cars surpass it as far as horsepower goes. Even though the Charger has the same amount of horsepower as the Challenger, it doesn't look that great compared to the Challenger. And I'd be willing to give up one horsepower with the Challenger and not go with the Camaro because I just can't stand how big the body is. It's just too big looking for me and I've heard many people say the same thing. Plus, the Challenger just looks too sick to pass it up.

So the answer to the question of which car out of these four cars would I choose is the Dodge Challenger with the 6.1-liter SRT HEMI V8 with 425 horsepower.

Agree or Disagree with my choice? Let me know.

My August 2010 Editor's Reel

So I finally got an editor's reel together. It's the one I made for a video editor position I have applied for at Guitar Center. So it doesn't include clips from everything that I've done. Instead it includes only the clips relevant to the position I applied for. Anyways, please watch it and if you need an editor and like my work, let me know. Also, there's a clip from a music video that I've been working on for a while that isn't finished yet. The video is for Anibal Gutierrez's song "Where Can I Go?".

Just an FYI: the music video that I wrote about above was shot with a Flip Mino HD camera. I love shooting with that camera because it shoots HD, is really simple to use, is easy to maneuver for all sorts of shots and angles, and is small enough to fit in your pocket for when you need to do some low-profile guerilla style shooting and don't want to have a camera that is easy to spot when carrying it around. You can find it on Amazon.com for a pretty descent price here: Flip MinoHD Camcorder 2nd Generation, 2 Hours (Brushed Metal).

Also, there is some pretty stylized coloring in the video that I did with Adobe After Effects. I also did the title animation in the beginning of the video that I created with After Effects. I love using that program because it's powerful and easy to use. The newest version can be found on Amazon.com here: Adobe After Effects CS5.

All the wonderful colors in the world! (or at least in the wardrobe)

Bold colors for clothes.

I've always been a fan of red, blue, and green. The thing is that I have a lot of black, white, and grey shirts. And the blues, reds, and greens aren't usually that bold. I like to mix and match colors, but I've formed a habit of mixing and matching only certain colors with certain colors.

I've been interested in some new things though. Such as brighter, bolder colors. Colors like bright greens, teals, bright reds, and maybe even purples.

And I think I'll start mixing different colors than I usually do.

Oh and I really like snap back adjustable hats. That's my new thing.

So that's what I have to say about that. I'm gonna start wearing brighter, bolder colors. And start mixing them differently too.

Like my brother Joey said, my new thing is looking stylish and fly all the time.

Party Time - Two words that you might not associate with me.

So a couple weeks ago, I went with my girlfriend Leandra and my friend Jaime to my cousin Baeu's friend's party and I had a awesome time. I used to really dislike going to parties, but lately, I've been more comfortable with being around different kinds of people and socializing with them. So I think I'm going to try to go out and socialize at parties/kick backs a bit more. And something that people tend to say is "well, you don't drink or anything, so you must not like to party." What I have to say to that is: I don't need to drink to have fun. I can kick it without being in an altered state. I'm down like that. =)

Besides, parties/kick backs are just another way to meet new people and you never know who you're going to meet. There might be someone that could hook you up with a job or something.

My Second Post ('Bout Time, Right?)

So I've finally decided to actually write a blog post after a few months of not posting anything since my first post.

I've got a few things to ramble on about. I don't want to blur all my topics so I've decided to separate all the topics into different labels. SOOOO... click on the links on the right for the different topics to see the blogs that I'm getting ready to post right now. Do it!

My First Post

Hello everybody!

So... This is my first blog I've done that isn't on MySpace. The blogs I wrote on MySpace were usually creative writing in nature. This blog, however, will be a mixture of things. Since it is a blog for both my personal self and for my production company Springline Entertainment, it will contain anything from random thoughts I have to posts about something that happened during the week, from reviews of movies to reviews of music, from rants about things I like to rants about things I don't like, from updates on film shoots to updates on music video shoots, from new films or music videos I've finished to photos I've taken and maybe even edited, and many other things.

I hope you'll enjoy my blog, keep reading/viewing it, spread the word, and let me know what your thoughts are if you feel like it.

Thanks for reading!
